The Boys' Brigade. Our main aim at BB is what the moto says: "for the advancement of Christ's Kingdom amongst boys".
The Boys’ Brigade is a uniformed organisation for boys from P1 to S6, which meets in the church on Friday nights from 6.30pm.
The boys participate in classes to help them to develop skills, build confidence, make friends and take responsibility. They are encouraged to make a real difference in their communities, like getting involved in sponsored cycling and fund-raising events.
On a regular basis, visitors come in to explain their work to the boys. In the past we've had Guide Dogs for the Blind, the Food Bank and Community Police. We hope to bring in more.
It's not all work though, on BB night the boys get plenty of game time, participating in anything from badminton to football.
External events are planned like going to the pantomime, end of year camp and end of year parents’ night where parents get a chance to see what the boys do during the year. Our annual fireworks event has become so popular that it has had to be moved to the Show Park due to larger crowds. The boys really enjoy getting involved in planning for the event.
